| There are people whom I quite admire on these forums and yet we'll never be friends .... because we're in totally different ball-parks. Words of appreciation from such individuals really make my day.
There are others who are philosophically of a different disposition but we share the same appreciation of -say- jokes and technology. I feel them as friends. So the ones I agree with aren't necessarily friends, while the ones with whom I very much disagree ..... are my friends! I have a former-pastor friend for instance -actually my best friend- but we have to be careful what we talk about sometimes.
It's strange. What I definitely DON'T want though, is to make pacts with people called "friendship" with an expectation of protection and assistance in battle against another group of people. That, to me, is the height of hypocrisy.
I don't believe in taking sides for the sake of philosophical protection. The truth should work things out, rather than force.
