Orally-transmitted stories

The problem with orally-transmitted stories is that they keep changing during transmission. The gospels were written about 40 years, at least, after the crucifixion of Jesus. I suppose it didn't really matter in biblical times, because believers would just get to know ONE only of the stories, and were unable to compare.
..... Is anyone saying or thinking, perhaps, that "if God would have wanted exactly correct stories to be handed down until 2008 and beyond, God would have made available to authors in biblical times suitable recording instruments at that time." Or, maybe, the original writings were destroyed by the early paganised fanatics and edited "improved and censored" versions were substituted for them?
