Response to The value of myth

All of the above. Like anything else, fantasy is used for good and not-so-good.

Advertisers know that image is a huge percentage of selling success.

People watch porn to get themselves highly aroused. It's all imagination.

Countries like the U.S. (and formerly Britain, German, Japan) have been very successful in maintaining their own image of virtuosity pitted against the unreasonable evils of their enemies as they go about the business of creating conflicts.

The original myths of gods were pretty much human attribution to higher powers. I doubt that the ancients really worshiped their gods out of love, adoration and endless praise. They just imagined that those gods could wipe them out if they didn't do certain things to appease them.

Christianity started off through imagination. That's something I find rather fascinating too. By sheer imagination and modified behavior they managed to change their world. I reckon it was the first time their world had ever been "conquered" by pacifism. Of course, that changed later when the church became absolutely powerful and corrupted but I think in the beginning it was a notable, worthy endeavor.

What could a group of imagine-oriented people accomplish today? Maybe the Mormon church is such an example?
