Vince, according to Acts 2:44-47 and Acts 4:32-37 the "Kingdom of God" was an alternative society, similarly to family life that you and I experienced while we were young. No need for any money, we were provided with what we needed - food, water, clothing for free.
.....Those who deserved help, wanted to escape from the "normal" life in "The World", and couldn't cope, wanting to restart their life, with "the slate" cleaned off, all of their mistakes/sins forgiven, could, if they fully qualified for entry, get to be members of "The Kingdom of God" as born again children".

They had to give all of their property
to the administration, to be shared,
and were called by outsiders "The Poor"

Matt.19
[21] Jesus said unto him,
If thou wilt be perfect,
go and sell that thou hast,
and give to the poor,

(Ponder: If they sell, that they have,
are they now, not the poor! (and give to themself.)

and thou shalt have treasure
in heaven: and come and follow me.

Mark.10
[21] Then Jesus beholding him
loved him, and said unto him,
One thing thou lackest:
go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast,
and give to the poor,
and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:
and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

I have given to the Levites to inherit:

of it for the LORD,
even a tenth part of the tithe.
