Sorry, I have been away from here. It is so quiet I have forgotten to check.
Laney just had her last day of her Junior year yesterday. She will really miss going to school each day and she just told me she doesn't want to grow up. Her favorite cousin graduated and she will miss her terribly. She does SCL with Laney though so they will have fun together this summer. Today they made cookies and had hair appointments together. Laney went to prom with Indy and her boyfriend last month and had a ball.
Laney will do a 9 day/ 3 hr per day at Larrabee Center. It is an adult job experience center to see where she is at for future job training. The school will provide transportation to this as it is a half hour from here.
I got a new job for next year and will be working longer hours as the high school media specialist and I'm hoping this works out for Laney.
I'm not sure I told you about her newest challenge- contacts. She was diagnosed with karataconus. An eye disorder where the cornea is forming cones and glasses no longer help her vision so she is where RGP or rigid gas permeable lenses. It has certainly been interesting, not easy, just interesting. Her vision is much better but the comfort level is not great. This will be another life long challenge. Laney has not yet been able to insert the lenses but does take them out on her own now. Karataconus is more common in people with Ds.
Senior year will be a lot like this year. She loves the cafeteria so I think we will continue that as job experience and she is still cleaning the public library and does a fine job with that. We are just ready for break now.
Thanks for asking.
Lisa
