We are a group of friends who have come together because we share the common bond of caring for someone who has Trisomy 21. We are here to share therapy tips, medical issues, laughs, accomplishments and yes, even frustrations. We embrace what Trisomy 21 has brought into our lives. We feel that it has taught us to appreciate the true meaning of life. We count our children as blessings! We will fiercely protect them and fight for their lives to be valued just as all other peoples' are. We share our pictures, our stories and our hearts here not only to provide friendship and support for each other, but also in the hopes that others will open their minds and their hearts to our unique children and, in turn, make a better world for everyone.

Well Allison has graduated and we've moved to BC. No more school for her, unless I can BEG to get her into Okanagan College. There program is full. I sure don't want her sitting around. I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

He is a sophmore this year. He had his bookbag packed last week he was so ready. Had his alarm set for 6 am but he was up by 5:30. I have no idea what his life will be life after high school he just loves going so. And with me and DH working full time. I will just savor the next 3 years!

Awww, he's such a cutie. Watch out for those girls. Is a sophomore similar to senior years?

Thanks...
The way grade level here in the states is

9th grade - Freshman
10th grade- Sophmore
11th grade - Junior
12th grade - Senior

So this is his second year in High school.

Laney is a Senior.

We are also still up in the air for after graduation. I am hoping to get her into the program she did this summer, where she worked in a consignement store that is staffed by adults with special needs. SHe liked it and it seemed like a good choice for her. I know what you mean, I don't want her just sitting around. DO you have any options?

Options, hopefully...lol. We just moved from Manitoba to British Columbia. Now in MB, she could have stayed in school one more year. In BC, after 19 they move on to work or college. I am trying to get her into the program they offer at college, however its full. Allison needs something to do as she would just sit around and play on the computer, watch tv, listen to music, read....notice no housecleaning mentioned...lol.

We just got her hooked up to income assistance (welfare) here, so I'm hoping to get some help from them or the community living program. I'm a little grrr about the community living program as apparently I need a doctor's note to prove she has down syndrome. Oh well, everyone has their policies.

Laney is such a beautiful young lady. Wish we lived closer. Oh well in time, I'm sure Allison will find some new friends.
