We just registered! Our rooms were booked a while ago at the Seaport so we are good to go
I wanted to know who else was going. I sure hope all you MA people will be there.
Our family is hoping to spend a week in MA, going to the conference on the first weekend & spending the second weekend at my oldest daughters dance competition in Holyoak. We are not sure what we are doing for the week in between. Hoping to visit with some friends (Kei?) and go to Wiggles World. This will be our big summer trip this year, since Laurel will be dancing in Scotland for the rest of the summer.
When I booked us for the conference, I didn't buy tickets for the Sat. evening banquet. It is Adam's birthday that day, so we figured cake & pizza in our room or something like that. We will go to the dance later in the evening, but the cost of the banquet was too much for us.
So... who is going??? Lets start the planning now.
We have our room booked but havent sent in the registration yet!! need to do that! we will not go to the banquet either so maybe we can all get together and celebrate Adams birthday!!!!cant wait!
I just downloaded the registration form. I wasn't planning to sleep over, since we are only a 40 minute drive away. Certainly I want to be there, but should I bring Sofia to everything? What about the boys? They are too young for the Sibling programs. What is there to do for the kids while grownups listen to things? I just can't figure out if I register as a single or as a family.
My dh is not that interested in going to all the workshops, so he spends time in the pool with the kids. He usually ends up with lots of kids & some other Dads & they have a blast in the pool. My 16 year old is coming too, so she takes over some of the babysitting duties if Craig does want to see a certain speaker.
We registered as a family, but didn't get tickets to the Banquet. It says that the dance afterwards is free, so we will just go to that.
We have only gone to conferences in Canada, so this one is new to us too. I hope our system works out in Boston. I'm not sure how welcome children would be at the sessions, but in Canada the babies are often with their parents at the workshops, but very few older kids are. If people are interested, I'm sure that my 16 year old would love to make a few bucks babysitting some kids at the hotel. They may even offer some childcare there, but I didn't see any mention of it on their brochure.
So glad that I'm going to get a chance to meet you. It should be a really fun weekend.
take the whole family. we leave the older two in the hotel room with some other kids we know(we bring movies and our ps2) and we split up and go to speakers we want to hear and take mayson with us!! you MUST bring sofia!!!!! thats the best part of this whole thing is getting to meet everyone!!
Have hotel reservations...just haven't worked out details yet. My mom usually comes along to watch the kids but is having her knee replaced in June so we may have to take you up on helping provide some travel funds for Laurel
Don't worry about the banquet...we have been to 3 conventions now but never go to the banquet...we can all get together and celebrate Adam's birthday....sounds like much more fun! And the dances are a blast! The kids LOVE them!
Lisa, mom to Jamie, 6 years old (and an extra chromosome) and Miss Cori, 5.
at the Seaport but I have yet to register. Robert said he thought we were just going to socialize anyway, lol! He was thrilled to find out that Craig is going so maybe they can hang out w/the kids while the conference is going on. As for the week after the convention, I don't think we have anything going on yet, so you're welcome to hang out here!
I say we all skip the banquet & help Adam celebrate his birthday with all his friends!
there sure is plenty to see in boston; i don't blame you for skipping! can you buy the materials book and the dvds even if you don't attend? my experience at teacher's conferences is that the networking and socializing is as least as beneficial if not more beneficial than the actual sessions - and certainly much more fun!
How about a birthday celebration for a few of the kids?

Kayla's bday is the 15th and I know Leslee and Drew are going and Drew's bday is right around the same time (the 14th I think?). We could have a celebration for Adam, Kayla, and Drew
So yeah, we're going! We didn't buy tickets to the banquet either.
I think we're going to be at the Westin, but still trying to figure all that out. Should have reserved the room back in Dec, but I didn't know if we were going and didn't know how quickly they filled up!
Is anyone staying through Sun? I know they have workshops on Sun but I don't see the listing of which workshops they are - do they repeat some of the ones from Sat? I don't know if I should get our plane tickets to return Sun or Mon.
I have a room booked at the Westin (the Seaport is out of rooms) which is right by the Seaport. I registered already and signed up for the banquet... I wish I would have read this thread sooner, I wouldn't have signed up for the banquet so I could spend more time with you ladies!!
We only live 2 hours away so I'm actually leaving Joey home with my DH but they're probably going to come at some point on Saturday.
I just don't know if we should fly back on Sun or Mon. I know there are workshops on Sun too, but I don't know what they are and if most people stay for that. The problem is the Westin only has rooms w/1 king bed for Sun night and we need a room w/2 beds for Kayla...so I don't know what we're going to do right now!
