This did happen to me when I went back for my post-partum checkup, not right at the hospital. There are (arguably) good reasons to do this for the average woman since it is not generally healthy for mom or baby to get PG until about 6 months to one year have gone by.
That said, it's a pretty funny/silly conversation for some of us IFers (certainly me included as the obvious cause of my IF is my DH's failed vasectomy reversal, so let me just say we got "that" (contraception) covered), and of course for everyone it's a personal choice. I think you are well within your rights to say you aren't interested or don't need that info. My best guess is you are likely to have to do this once the person who is planning to counsel you shows up (as opposed to cutting them off at the pass) because in my experience, getting anyone to read your chart or to alter protocol pro-actively is close to impossible.
