Response to Baby cereal - Earth's Best vs. HappyBellies or others
Spencer didn't care for the rice, so we switched to the oatmeal. He enjoys it mixed with fruit. He has oatmeal with fruit in the morning and vegetables in the afternoon.
You'll enjoy making baby food. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. Spencer likes avocado and sweet potatoes. I'll pick up a bag of frozen green beans at the store tomorrow and try those. He didn't much care for broccoli, but it wasn't blended, just mashed. I ordered a 4 cup Cuisinart from Amazon which will be the perfect size for baby food and can be used for regular cooking. Spencer likes the Earth's Best organic baby food in the jars, too. We'll probably use that on trips and in situations where we might not have a refrigerator available.
There's no question that Spencer was more than ready for solids at 4 months. He had doubled his birth weight (and then some!), constantly drooled (two teeth are beginning to make an appearance), and "stared" at our food. He'll practically rip the spoon out of my hand now! We're not quite ready for the high chair, so I usually feed him in my lap or his infant-to-toddler rocker.
The only drawback of solids - no more odorless breastfeeding diapers. Yuck!
I'm hoping and praying that Spencer doesn't pick up my and DH's horrible eating habits. We're really trying to cook more, but it's hard when I don't get home until after 6:30 pm and then have a hungry baby to feed, bathe and get ready for bed. DH could care less about food.
Be sure to take a picture and video of Lauren trying solid food for the first time. The first bite is hilarious!
The weather was beautiful here, so we had the nicest day! Went for a stroller walk and took in the fresh air. Work has been so stressful with our office move that I've barely had time to breathe during the week.
