Response to 12 week/Nuchal Update, FRUSTRATED

I really hate to be the "bright side girl", and I don't by any means want to ruin your Ben and Jerry's yogurt-eating fest, BUT, I can't help myself here... Let's take a step back. There could have been a few outcomes today: 1) Everything could have looked perfect and measured perfectly and you could have been on your way. 2) There could have been something somewhat worrisome that you would have had to go back for. 3) There could have been something very worrisome, or worse... So, what you got was a wiggling, face rubbing, active baby with a perfect heartbeat. No, you didn't get your answers today which is frustrating, but you got the beautiful bouncing baby. Just a different perspective...

On amnios, I don't know if your OB has talked to you about the new fetal DNA test. It's called the "Sequenom MateriT21 Free Fetal DNA" test and it's new, but supposedly very accurate and an alternative to amnio (this according to my OB's office). It's just a blood test (like any other) as opposed to the more invasive amnio. My OB's office said it would likely be covered by insurance if I had a concerning NT scan, but perhaps with a co-pay (I have no idea how much that would be). I considered not doing the NT scan b/c I'm unwilling to do the amnio as a f/u, but I was convinced to do the scan b/c of having this option. Just wanted to throw that out there b/c it's new and I'm not sure everyone is being told about it.

Good luck on Thurs. I have a feeling everything will be just fine happy.gif.
