Response to Do I need to bring anyone with me to the CVS? |
| I had a bad experience with the CVS. The doctor somehow 'nicked' me as the needle was coming out. This caused bleeding right after the procedure, and then a very severe amniotic leak a couple hours later. I ended up with a sizeable SCH throughout the remainder of the pregnancy which had to be monitored every two weeks.
I rested as soon as we got home, and then about an hour later I had the first of two gushes. They did not see me til the next day as they said REST at that point was the best I could do. About 45 minutes later another gush... I was certain I would lose the pregnancy.
I have a nine month old babbling in his highchair right now. It was a very stressful experience, but it turned out ok. I would never had forgiven myself if I had driven home. As it was, even though I was super cautious, I just kept wondering if I did something. In the end, it was the doctor. As he "nicked" me, he actually lost the CVS sample and picked up some of my own maternal tissue on his way out; so my test was totally inconclusive. All that risk for nothing!
Have you considered Matrnity21 or whatever that test is from Sequenom? A good friend of mine had this test and it actually ended up releavling a Mosaic DS pregnancy very early on. They went onto have an Amnio which confirmed the initial diagnosis. She is due to give birth in 3 weeks! They won't know the full extend of the DS until after birth as they will need to test a dna sample. Either way they are happy with their decision and thrilled to be expecting a baby girl.
Way too much tmi sorry!! Just wanted to warn you to bring someone along and then please RELAX after. My experience by the way is virtually unheard of... I doubt it would ever happen again. |
