Response to Questions about Amnio
I know that people mean to be helpful when they say that they had an amnio and had no problems. However, I don't really think it is relevant when people want (and should) know what the risks are for any particular procedure. While most people are part of the lucky majority of people that had no problems with amnio, there are the few 1 out of 200-500 people that had a heartbreaking miscarriage. In most cases we won't know those people, since they are rare, but you should know that they exist. I think people should go in with their eyes open, and not feel falsely reassured that all will be well because most people you know had no problems. This is important not just for people that asked the question, but also people that may be lurking for information.
Of course if people want to know what the amnio experience is like etc, then I think personal experiences are appropriate.
I hope I haven't offended anyone but I just think it's really important.
