I hate to say it, but I'd prefer a generic gift like a gift card.
Many of those things (i.e. slings, chairs, etc.) don't last or works for some moms and/or babies but not all. For example, someone got me a Bumbo for DD. I was so excited, but when I realized that my DD would end up using it for less than a month or two and when I realized how much it was - I really preferred that the person spend her money on other things that I could have REALLY used.
If it was $150 going to a crib - that's entirely different.
I'm in the same situation. My SIL is pregnant. Funny - I'm giving her an EARLY baby shower gift - a maternity / nursing bra that she needs NOW and that will last her at least a year and half... and you know those YES! bras are the best... and it's really cheap! (Not that you should get her some bras... LOL!)
Maybe you could talk to the co-worker and ask? I think she'd appreciate it - especially if she's hurting for money.
