thanks for your sweet note below. not too busy to say hi! and i would love to know just how you are doing, too.
i really am good. my pregnancy has been almost awesome! i have been tripped by a couple of things, some standard anemia and now a gestational diabetes scare, but mostly it's all under control, and i feel great - especially on the days when i manage to poop! - and so happy for every day i get to spend looking like Humpty Dumpty, and feeling my LO kick and flip. so cool. i can't believe i was actually considering acceptance of missing out on this altogether.
as for my girl here, she seems to be a little wonderbabe. she has been growing at a perfect rate and has steadily charted in the 50th percentile sizewise. arms and legs seem to be strong (heart, too) and rather coordinated, when it comes to whacking me in the ribs, anyway. we have actually come to believe that she IS indeed coming, and we talk to her and about her daily, and that is, again, something i never thought i'd get to do. lucky lucky lucky.
okay, i'm in full-on tears just writing this.
we did a ton of research and met some surgeons and found an amazing doc who will do the plastic surgery. clefts are all he does, and his kids look absolutely amazing when they're done. we will do something called nasoalveolar molding, beginning from one week old; the baby will be fitted with a special appliance that will slowly close the cleft and shape her nose until she has the lip surgery at three months. the palate, assuming it is also cleft, as we don't know for sure yet, will be operated on at one year of age.
all that decided, we managed to make it out of sweltering nyc for a couple of months, and jetted to my husband's hinterlands to see his fam and, well, watch the rain come down. perhaps a little-known fact about bavaria: it rains like heck all the time here! especially when i'm here! i am happy, anyway, because i'm working on the baby's nursery - the one she will NOT have anytime soon in new york, unfortunately - and it is going to be a wonderland that i hope she'll love when we finally get to bring her here, probably next summer.
and, OMG, is there any limit to how many eurobabysuits i can buy? they are so cool and colorful. with luck, i will get them all into my bags (i've been warned of consequences) and make the trip home first week of july without going into labor on the plane. better not. her timer isn't due to go off until end august.
what's up with you? are you feeling good? i have been reading the board on my iphone in the minutes before i fall asleep at night. always get a hoot out of the constipation conversations, being the queen of clogged over here. i really hope all is well and that you are looking forward to your LO's arrival. and how is your young man? i hope he is as great and huggable as ever.
thanks again for reaching out. would love to hear from you. hopefully i haven't written anything inflammatory!
