At first, I remember feeling a bit... well, I'm not sure what, but I could see my DH's eyes light up when the tech told us we were having a boy on the first go round. I guess it felt foreign to me too b/c I always thought I would have a little girl (grew up as an only child with a single mom - boys were foreign to me) and I imagined life of sports games and sweat socks (he he). But man oh man, I got used to the idea and when my DS arrived, he just became my world. Little boys are so sweet and they love their mommies soooooo much. You will have a special bond with a boy. Now, I can't wait to experience all the stages of watching a little boy grow up (especially the sport games and even the sweaty socks!), but hopefully it will not go too fast!
After years of IF before DS, we ended up pg again (naturally) just 16 months after DS (surprise!). This time... we're blessed with a girl, so we're elated that we will get to have both (and know how truly lucky we are), but now, I can't imagine what a little girl will be like. Can you believe that? You never know what life will bring you, but somehow it prepares you...
You may feel a little disappointment at first to find out one over the other, but then you'll get used to it/over it, decorate the nursery with all of the little baby boy or girl things and will soon forget the 'loss' over not having the other. I can't even describe how happy you will be either way, especially once you hold that little bundle for the first time....truly an amazing gift...
