annon still... just to protect my friend (no login) Posted Apr 5, 2012 11:39 AM
SO my friend who had the M-A-T-E-R-N-I-T 21 test and got a positive followed by a normal ultrasound found out that baby had Mosaic Downs. The fish part of the amnio came back negative... so they were hoping the first test was wrong. But the full panel revealed that out of 20 strands of dna tested; 9 contained the extra chromosone and 11 were normal.
They are about 18 weeks now with baby girl. They are moving forward with the pg even though they are very scared and feeling really overwhelmed. I've been supporting her the best I can; and I plan to welcome baby girl with love and no preconceived notions.
They will get a detailed US this week. So far they did see a nasal bone, normal size limbs and 4 chambers of the heart at almost 16 weeks (all GREAT signs). She is worried about a hole in the heart, how people will treat her baby, and the possibility of leukemia later in life. She is also concerned what will happen to her daughter as an adult since she and her DH are both in their forties. She could use prayers in any of you are the praying kind...
