Hello,
I'm wondering if the Check Chicks out there could fill me in on their experiences with him. What was your protocol? I have an appointment with him on August 25th. I'm out in southern california right now but am moving to Kennett Square, PA next month. I've heard good things about him.

Here's my stats:

ME: 33
DH: 33
FSH: 10-12.4
TTC #1 two years
AFC - low, only about 3-4 in one ovary
Chemical Pregnancy in August 07
IUI w/ GonalF - BFN 02/08

Thanks in advance!
Andrea

Check

I traveled to see Check in March 08 & 2 wks later had a natural BFP. I had 2 early m/c prior & am still not sure if the p4 support he put me on helped me to keep this little one. I was going to do a low-stim IVF w/ no BCP, bravelle 100-150IU & cetrotide & that's it. I was labeled a poor responder by my prev RE, but Check really believed that the High stim MDL I did b4 was too much. I think you will really like Check. I would rec'd spending some time on the search part of both this & the high fsh board for "Check" or "cooper center" I did & it helped me get everything together for my trip & how to "handle" the nurses(although I still had some issues). I do have to say it was all worth it!!!!! Good luck!

I was on 1 crinone suppository in the evening from 3 days after O until the beta. Then with a +beta I was on 1 crinone suppository AM & 1 endometrin suppository in the pm. A - beta would mean you stop the p4. I wish you the best!!

Hi.

July 25 2008, 11:18 AM

I went to see him just before I turned 35. With me he suggested timed intercourse with P4 support. I became PG the first month and my DD is now 14 months old. His office can be a total PIA but well worth it. I decided to keep it to 3 timed intercourse cycles as it appears the odds for conception go down after that.

I only have 1 ovary and it onyl had an AFC of 4 on the one ovary the month I conceived. Also, as you will note in my signature we are pregnant with #2 naturally and by surprise! SO, go for it in my book!

Also, after ovulation was confirmed I was on 200mg suppositores x 3 day, then upped to PIOs and Prometrium because I made so little P4 with my daughter.

Yes, I've heard that the office is a bit crazy, but I think I can handle it!! I'll keep you posted.

Do you live near Check's office?

I live in Baltimore...

So we were out of towners. Once I got the hang of it we did not have too many problems--not enough to keep us from going back if we had to! My advise: 1) call as soon as they open in the a.m. on the day you are getting tests done. For you this will mean setting your alarm and getting up WAY early! 2) fax a callback sheet as soon as you call the callback line 3)schedule your labs super early in the a.m. so that they can get them to Cooper without there being a time issue.

Good luck and thanks!

I didn't have luck there

July 27 2008, 10:06 AM

I am also a PA resident, so I used their PA office primarily. But you do have to still go to the NJ office pretty frequently which sucked for me because of the commute(on Saturdays, for certain procedures/tests, and when the PA office is closed.)

I went there for 11 months. I have short cycles, so I actually did 12 cycles with them. 10 cycles were timed intercourse, all BFN's. I can't believe he let me carry on that long! Then I begged to try IVF and he suggested Minimal Stim IVF. The first IVF I only had 2 eggs and 1 fertilized, we transferred 1 embryo, BFN. The 2nd IVF cycle I only had 1 egg and it released before retrieval which shouldn't happen in the IVF world, yet it seems to happen often at his office. After that busted cycle I decided to switch RE's.

I switched to Abington Reproductive Medicine in Abington, PA. They are inside of Abington Hospital which made me feel safer. The docs were alot better I thought. I had my first consult in November of 2007, they did a laparoscopy in Dec of 2007 which found and removed endometriosis. Then I did 1 IUI which I got 3 eggs but a BFN. So DH and I decided to go straight to IVF, and I got pg on my first IVF there. I did a High Stim IVF and got 7 eggs. I am now almost 21 wks pg.

It's really just the luck of the draw I think. A lot of women had great luck at Cooper where other patients like me fell through the cracks I believe.

Best of luck to you!
