gingerly stepping over here from the over-40 board . . .

I've now had two good beta's (239 at ~14 dpo and 614 at ~16dpo) and am beginning to think this could be real. I was anxiously waiting to start ivf#3 when AF was late. I tested and got the shock of my life with a bfp.

I turn 41 next week and have been ttc#1 for 2 1/2 years. I've been to 3 RE's, done 3 iui'd and 2 ivf's. I lost an ovary to an endo cyst three years ago, and also have hashimoto's.

I'm kinda freaked out, and looking forward to my u/s. This feels kinda weird - I've become an expert at ttc, but I have no idea how to be pg! I'm really hoping this lasts, and I'm so grateful for this refuge where I think you can understand my combined sense of both elation and overwhelming fear.

I'm looking forward to being a member of this board. Ack!!!!!!

It seems like this is a 1st for you too. That is great. I wish you a lot more company over here so you have people to pull you through your 1st trimester. It is almost more nerve-wracking then TTC.

Hey EKB!!!!!

Welcome happy.gif I am so excited for you!!! Can't wait for your updates.

So this was an "in between cycles natural conception", right? Those betas are pretty high for the DPOs....nice and strong!!

Are you doing any more betas or do you have an u/s scheduled?

Best,

me:40, DH 41
FSH 26
DS: born Apr15'03 (after 4 years of ttc, starting in 1998)
DD born Oct 13 2007 happy.gif (after just under 3 years of ttc)
DS was conceived naturally the cycle following a cancelled DE IVF, using my good friend's eggs. She was on the verge of hyperstimming.
DD's nat conception I attribute to using OPKs like a crazy nut, eating grapefruit daily and using preseed. also 5 cycles of TCM ending 2 cycles before that lucky cycle.

I just want to drop in and say Hello and congratulations! I was another gal that was waiting for a procedure (IUI) and got a BFP while on the Over40 board! My RE went on vacation and we were supposed to begin the cycle when he got back, but WHA-LA!! BFP for me too!

I had pregnancies when in my 20's so it wasn't my first time around, but I know what you mean about knowing everything about TTC and being new at the PG stuff! It was a bit unnerving to stop thinking about taking temps, supplements and scheduling BD (or not!)!!!

I'll be poking my head in here to keep checking on you if you don't mind.. if you ever want to look for me though, home base is the High FSH Playgroup... where you will hopefully join us after your little one is here! (Just email the moderators there, I'm one of them! Or post and I'll catch it there and put through as needed!)

Now relax a bit... those look like wonderful betas! Hopefully you'll have a wonderful worry-free pregnancy!!!

Hi Elena

July 5 2009, 7:06 PM

My DH had poor morphology and very variable counts. Our naturopath had him on V2000 multi, CoQ10 (100mg), Vitamin E + Selenium, Vitamin C (1000mg, up to 2000 if he was sick), fish oil, l-carnitine (500mg) and zinc ultra. After IVF#3 failed he sulked and went on vitamin strike for 3 months until IVF#4. Count for IVF#3: 90 million. IVF#4: 18 million, i.e. an 80% drop!!! Needless to say, he was back on those vitamins from then until we got our twin BFP.

Does this help?

I remember you from when you used to post on the high FSH board (I think you still do--on occasion). Anyway, just wanted to wish you congrats--things look great so far. Just keep this in your mind: "so far, so good...". I used it as my mantra throughout the whole first trimester:)

I know how you feel--I just turned 41, got a surprise BFP back in April after I had been cancelled (on day 9) during a low stim protocol b/c of poor response. Oh, and I have hashimotos too. After you get PG and the baby starts growing, you'll need to have your thyroid medication increased often.

I know how nerve-wracking the first trimester is--I felt like I just wanted the days to fly by until the next U/S so I could see that everything was OK--but hang in there and remember your mantra!! Happy to have you here!
