dont worry about the second blood test

The AFP (the blood work you got at 15 weeks) is notoriously innacurate and full of false alarms. I don'tknow why they even suggested you do it since you had a great nuchal scan! Besides, even the odds in the blood test are great--that is over a 99.55 chance all is perfect.

Gonna respond , the test I had was the integrated nuchal combination, it wasn't the AFP test so I do not know if that's what you were referring to....but with that being said they do check AFP, along with the other quad testings it is just not called the quad because they combine this with the nuchal and first blood draw results ..so maybe your right I hope soooooowhat do you think ? Do you know of this test?

don't know of that test...

but I still wouldn't worry. the NT scan was fine as was the inital blood work that went with it. The odds they gave you based on blood work are still great. It means roughly a .0044 chance that something is wrong. I would take those odds any day!

And I still think that blood work alone is unreliable.

Yes and I'm willing to bet...

that with the second test the risk was calculated mostly on age. How old are you Debbie?

When I fell on the + side for DS screening the genetic counsellor did the math without considering my age and my odds were significantly lower but then she went on to stress that the figures are what they are regardless of age - ugh.

It's hard not to worry. I just wish someone explained to you what that second test was for because I didn't have it nor have I ever heard of it.
