I have had chronic diarrhea the whole time I've been pregnant (about 9 weeks now). Its not every day, but every 2 or 3 days, it comes back. I do not know what causes it. I get slightly dehydrated as well.
you need to see your OB right away

Ongoing diarrhea without being treated by a doctor is serious. You may need IV fluids and potassium. Please address this right away. If you can't get to your OB right away I would go to the ER.

Go to OB or L and D at ER. You may need fluids.

would it help to just drink alot of water to replenish what I've lost, rather than get IV fluids?
this is too precious to self-treat/diagnose

You really need to consult with a dr. at this point. Yes, some women can experience this but until you see a dr. you can't be sure what's going on.
Staying hydrated in pregnancy is not just important for you but for the fetus - the fetus needs adequate amniotic fluid.
The key word you used in your original post is "chronic". If your post was "I woke up today and had some diarhhea" then it would be fine to suggest to drink lots of fluids and not to worry. But your post indicates you've been experiencing this the whole pregnancy. Have you discussed this with your OB during any of your visits?

I had it too - nothing to worry about

I had it when I was pregnant with my DD, probably for the first 5 months. It eased up for the last 4 months of the pregnancy. It was fine with me because with my previous pregnancy with my DS, I was so constipated that I was going crazy! I have another friend who had diarrhea with her DD too so we assumed it was a girl pregnancy thing.
For me, it was never a big deal and my OB just said some people's systems react to hormones with diarrhea. She wasn't worried about it at all -- just said to drink lots of fluids.
yes but going by Dee's post doesn't seem like she'd seen a dr. about this

and she really does need to see a dr. before thinking it's normal.

i just want to say i am 14 weeks and have the exact same thing. some days it's been quite bad. before pregnancy i had a parasite from travelling to south america. my doctor treated it but he thinks i have leftover "irritable bowel" which becomes worse in pregnancy. in my case, bloodwork showed it was likely nothing more than that. maybe once you see your doctor and get checked out, you will have reassurance. for me, i think this is a pregnancy thing - but i agree a check up is necessary.
