I swam in ocean water all the time on my first pregnancy, we lived in Miami so we would go to the beach every weekend.
I'm sure it's better than chlorinated water
And about whether you can do laps or not I think it depends on your pregnancy and I would ask the doctor, If you haven't had any problems I would say do it unless you feel tired or out of breath.
The good thing about the pool is you're not lifting your body's weight so its a lot easier to exercise and better for your joints.
