beta back (previous loss and child ment)August 20 2012 at 2:43 PM

Well, I was really excited to see that my beta has doubled in 44 hours. Still lower numbers, but doubled nonetheless. Then when I realized that from the first beta to the second beta was 32 hours doubling and now 3 days later it's doubling in 44 hours, I was a little concerned. I hope it's not slowing down beyond what is considered normal! I was probably 5 weeks and 3-4 days then. I know it slows down later, but wasn't thinking it would be this soon..
I hate that all the losses before this make me so paranoid and feel like I have to question and read into things. I really want to be this 'miracle story', but I can't get too excited because I've been here so many times before...The 'good news' is that most of my failed pg's were not doubling this much when I m'c --only 1/5 had stellar numbers, heartbeat and then gone at 7.5 weeks.I guess if I can make it another couple weeks, I'll feel a little better for having passed that mark, at least. My dd had 3 tripling betas so of course that is weighing in my mind as well...
Next up is u/s on Friday. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for listening! (despite all the anxiety and paranoia..haha)

What would a post on this board be without anxiety and paranoia?!
Your beta doubling sounds perfect! As for the doubling slowing, I'm fairly sure now is "sooner"- usually when you do the whole doubling thing, it's with IUIs or IVF where you're starting the testing at around 4wks exactly, so 5.5wks is already a little "later" as funny as that sounds! Plus, up to 72hrs doubling time I believe is normal, so you're no where near even the upper limit. I know these things mess with your mind though- mine has been messed with many a time during this journey!
Wishing you lots of luck on Friday!

Many, many thanks! And I appreciate you normalizing my obsessive/paranoid thoughts-haha! I am sure to those who haven't experienced this crazy IF journey, I must sound like a nutjob! hehe
Doubling time looks good

It's difficult to not compare previous pregnancies and betas, but each one is so different. It is all so crazy making though and I completely understand the anxiety. The numbers are doubling and like Erin said, as long as they are doubling every 72 hours, then all looks good. Yours are doubling faster than that and a slow down is totally normal.
Hoping that Friday comes quickly for you, as I know how difficult the waiting game can be. Thinking good thoughts for you!

congratulations! it looks good to me. i've had 3 losses and know all too well how hard it is to relax in all this. alas, it just sucks to have the innocence sucked out of what should be a blissed out joy ride. anyway, i hope you the week flies by to a successful US on friday. good luck...!
thank you! plus...anyone experience disappearing symptoms?

THanks so much, Broodyhen. I agree, all the joy was sucked out with the first loss (then magnified with future ones). Ugh...
So today I am approx 5 weeks and 6 days and woke up with no more heavy/sore BB's and my stomach doesn't feel tight like it did. I know, that's a weird symptom to have this early, but that's what I was having for the past week. I seem to think that with my DD pg, this happened, but it's also happened with other CP's as well so I basically completely panicked earlier this am. I went to my acupuncturist and had a session--she said the pulse that shows some blood flow increase (or something like that?) sounded good still so I'm trying to calm myself with that. Not that something couldn't have gone wrong despite this, but I was so freaked that it helped me a little hearing that. I needed the treatment, it totally slowed down my anxiety. I'm such a nut...
I also had a beta done at a private lab, but then they said it was a two-day process to get the results (get this--I live in the Bay Area and they SHIP the blood to San Diego!!? WTH?? Had I known that, I may have skipped it). Man, I am so insane, but hoping my sore bb's and stomach thing returns. I was hoping for some of those 'twinges' (stretching) but I guess I'm way early for that. You'd never know with the size of my stomach (haha). I swear, I pooch out with every pg after DD--I used to think it was the drugs/IVF, but since this is natural, there goes that excuse!
never mind...this evening they kick in a bit more

This is all coming back to me now. Since it's been almost 5 years since I had a healthy pg, I have forgotten what things occurred during that pg (to ease my mind with this one). Now that it's night time, the heaviness in the bb's and tightness in the tummy are back, for the most part, anyway. I am now feeling like this could just be something that happens..that's what I'm telling myself, anyway..

This happened to me in the beginning. One day I felt too ill to get out of bed and my boobs felt bruised. Two days later..I felt fine. The feeling fine however, became less frequent as the weeks went on and symptoms worsened. I think this is very common, from what my OB had told me.
Best of luck to you!

oh thank goodness. I felt like I knew
it was probably normal, but my mind plays such tricks on me after the losses that I lose all sense.
I did a beta yesterday which came back doubling in 43 hours so I felt incredible to hear that. I think I'll do one more tomorrow so that I will be prepared for the u/s on Friday.
Thanks for the input!
