verify the rectifier diode and fuse

put a volt meter on the battery connections while the motor is running and bring it up to speed ,
see what voltage is on the circuit..
you can do the same thing at the back of the headlight, or at the light switch..
the headlight recieves AC voltage and it will spike high if the battery is not getting a charging voltage
