Try these things

You can get rid of your airbox/filter and get a K&N air filter, I use K&N part# 62-1420 on my 84 spree. It just barely fits but you can make it work. And that thing sucks air like you wouldnt believe.

Then you can drill into the muffler with a 5/16s drill bit i think it is. Drill right up the nipple and again at 8 o'clock. Drill all the way to the rear of the muffler if you like. Also cut the nipple of the muffler to 1/4 of an inch.

You can do a pulley mod which I havent done but do a search in the forum and youll find it Im sure.

You can get the head milled.
You can also use a drimel to cut away all the metal behind the reeds to get more air. You can try the K&N first I think it sucks a great deal of air by itself.
You will have to rejet and tune it after each one of these mods. A bigger main jet is the main thing that will need to be done to keep up with all the air coming in with the K&N.

If you have an Iowa spree youll need a normal spree muffler. Look on ebay.
Mind you a spree cant have the acceleration of an aero or elite.
