look these bikes, set around for years, fuel and oil residue turn to varnish inside the engine, this hinders the intake of the fuel mix.. it also coats the cylinder wall and sticks the rings..
I never mod a carb or and engine untill I have put some miles on it, several hundred at least, and convinced that i have it cleaned out , loosen up, and running at it's best... then i will do the exhaust first, then a bore kit, then i will change carb jets if i need to.
