never mind but......engine swap "?" / flywheel "?"

i do have another "?"
since i am going with the 82 engine
and i dont want to buy the newer wheel
can i just swap the final drive gear/ axel?
im going to try it tomarrow but i just wanted to hear if it had been tried
also i am having a hard time getting my fly wheel off
i have the nut off but the actual fly wheen wont budge
