How can I be sure that the oil is being mixed with gas as designed?

Hello Friends,
I'm almost done with my winter project of restoring my old QT 50. I bought it as a project and never heard it run. I'm almost at the point of starting it but I want to make sure the "oil injector" thing is, in fact, mixing the oil with the gas. Is there a way I can check it to be it's working before start the motor?
