cylinder and piston

by daniel (no login)

I have a 1986 spree and i was trying to change the piston rings. i got the old ones off and all that, and i put the new rings on and i oiled it and the cylinder, but it would not slide on. i had compressed the rings into there grooves and everything, but it would slide just a little below the rings and stop. well i twisted the cylinder just a little bit to get it alligned and the top ring cracked. so i took the cylinder off, which was not to easy and i got the broken ring off, so now i have to order more, any suggestions for me on an easier way or am i doing it wrong or what?????
