I got my new metrakit in my 87 honda elite. I'm running premix at 50:1, according to recommendations of VTcycles. I had done 2 10 minute very easy rides without problems. Today I tried to go to the store to get some grease for my brake cables, and the damn thing seizes after a little over 10 minutes. I had not gone anymore than half-throttle, and 25 mph just about the whole time.
This is the exact same thing that happened with my previous metrakit. It seized on the first 'real' trip. The last kit never seized after that. But I'm so upset that I was being so careful in running premix and everything, and here it's seized up on me.
The only thing I can think that might vary from VTcycle's recommendations is my oil. It's "Maxima SuperM injector Hi-performance 2 cycle oil... Synthetic Formula... Smokeless formula... injector or premix."
For this first tank of gas, I've got 7 3/4 cups gas and about half-way between 1/4 and 1/8 cups of this oil. I measured the gas using a conservative number, and was sure to use more than the minimum of oil. So I figure my ratio must be a little more than 50:1.
Since what VTcycles told me to do resulted in a seize, I'm asking you guys for a second opinion. I know mopedwhiz said 25:1... but I went with VTcycles recommendation so that when they ask if I followed their directions, I can say yes. Now I'm somewhat pissed at them. I will be calling them today when the time in Hawaii is a little later.
