there are a lot of connections in the headlight housing , the wires are all pushed behind or under the headlight

the horn , the tail light, the turn signals should all work when the key is on,

the headlight only works when the engine is running, it has it's own winding from the magneto.

if the oil light is on, the battery circuit is connected at least as far as the key switch and your problems are in the connections that are supposed to be on/hot when the key is on..

these are all in the headlight housing
all the switch wires and turn signal wires meet there
