I've been working on this 82 express for a while. Cleaned the carb 3 times, air and throttle screws set correctly, new gas, new oil, new spark plug, good battery, new air filter element. All the screws are tight, nothing is leaking, new gaskets. 1300 miles on the baby. The bike starts up great, idles well, revs up fine and fast while giving it max throttle while on it's stand.
The problem is when I actually take it out - it bogs down at full throttle. I can get it up to maybe 20, but it runs a rough and I have to give it half throttle the whole time, any more and it goes slow and bogs. I have to slowly milk it but I know something is really wrong.
I am new to engines, but I think it is running LEAN, not getting enough gas when it needs to. I don't think it's the carb, because doesn't the carb have more to do with how it runs at low speeds than higher speeds?
Do you think the choke might be at fault here? I do.
I appreciate any insight.
