I've just pulled the variator from my CV80 hoping to inspect and maybe replace the rollers. I fully expected to be able to take a look at the back of it and find a few nuts or bolts that I could remove and allow it to come apart for inspection.
But No - no nuts or bolts - it certainly appears to be a single unit, the outer case being pressed, stamped, whatever, to the inner plate. And Yamaha Parts also shows it as a single-piece unit - discontinued. It doesn't look like there's any way to open it up without damaging the outer case.
Anyone in here have any experience with the CV80?
Did Yamaha really design this as a one-piece unit with no way to replace the rollers? Anybody who can offer any help or insight, please.
