don is correct

but there is NO plate

the back/engine side of the variator pulley has to be machined or grounded to reduce the interior LIP between the halves

then this same amount has to be replaced on the shaft by a washer before re-asembly { this keeps the front variator and rear drive pullies lined up }

failure to remove a specific amount and using a washer the same thickness { say 0.125 inch , thats 1/8 }

will result in belt failure in a matter of DAY's
