It only tries to start after sitting for a while.

I did clean the tank out very well and installed a new in-line fuel filter. I will try for hours to get it started....i'll leave it overnight....in the morning it will almost start up on the first kick but die coughing...then nothing after that..any ideas? Aren't the carb adjustment crews just for idle - shouldn't it at least start even if those screws are not adjusted correctly? I have tried different combinations incl. 2 1/2 & 1 1/2 out. I just don't understand why it does best after it sits for a long period of time.

Thanks again...

P.S. I don't think I'm flooding it either unless it is automatically flooding itself?
