If anything rubs against the wound coil inside the magneto,the stored energy is lost.
Also,any oil on the points or points with too much or too little gap will cause fits.
Set points at .014" after filing them if they're old.
Make sure you have a good spark plug wire back to the coil with no breaks or anywhere it has been worn thru. don-ohio
