      1 easy

      1 hard
( make sure the key is off during this test )

loosen the adjusting nut on the rear brake at the rear wheel
then try squeezing the left/rear brake lever to see if the spring start spins over..

the arm that releases the spring starter is located on top of the tranny close to the carb..

push it forward or tap it with a hammer to see if it moves.. if the spring is ok the starter will spin..

if the arm moves .. but the starter won't spin, and the windup won't work .. then the spring is broken..

PS: these are NOT kick starters.. you step down on them 4 or 5 times untill the spring is wound then you squeeze the brake to release them..
