Re: TSN OHL top 10

May 3 2006, 3:31 PM

Ill post it and save u guys some time. the only one i dont agree with is Staal at 7.

ISS Draft Rankings (OHL)

1. Steven Stamkos, C

The top ranked player in this years draft possesses all of the skills to become a superstar in the OHL and potentially the NHL. Good size, great feet and tremendous offensive sense make him the premiere forward in the draft.

2. Michael DelZotto, D

As impressive as Stamkos has been as a forward, DelZotto has been his equal on the blue line. His heady play, great defensive technique and performance in both ends make him the clear defensive favorite in this year's draft. As well, he passes the puck like an 8-year pro.

3. Phil McRae, C

Despite the controversy as to where he'll play, his skills are not debatable. The son of Basil, Philip is oozing in hockey IQ and has a tremendous future. His decision to play with the US NDTP this year was a wise one and as a result of their program he has improved a great deal over the course of the year.

4. Cody Hodgson, C

Another debatable future in the OHL surrounds Hodgson but there is no denying his abilities in the offensive zone. He played Major Midget throughout the year and handled the older and stronger opponents easily and racked up incredible offensive stats. His performance at the Ontario AAA Midget Championships in North Bay was phenomenal and wherever he decides to play, he will compile a bunch of points.

5. Mitch Gaulton, D

Gaulton was the stud defender on the Toronto Red Wings club throughout the year and played more minutes then anyone in the draft. He has an excellent work ethic, good defensive sense and a bomb from the point. Although some have questioned his natural hockey sense, we believe fatigue played a major part with respect to the concern in question.

6. Alex Pietrangelo, D

A tremendous specimen in terms of size and skills, Pietrangelo has a huge upside in both the OHL and the NHL. He is very solid in all aspects of his game but a lack of aggressiveness will have to be addressed if he is to become a sure fire pro.

7. Jared Staal, RW

The fourth of the Staal family, Jared is the rawest of any of the four. However, he possesses tremendous stick skills and has a long fluid stride that should become exceptional with leg strength development. The improvements in his game over the past 12 months have been incredible and that bodes well for the future for this behemoth.

8. Greg Nemisz, C

Nemisz has all of the physical tools to become a stud in the OHL. He reminds us in many ways of a young Jeff Carter. He still needs to bulk up. This season he carried a poor team pretty well all this year along with certain teammates and the coaching staff. He has the potential to dominate the OHL and as well become a high NHL draft pick in '08.

9. Robert Czarnik, RW

Czarnik is a personal favorite of ISS because of his ability to perform at such high speed. He is a fantastic skater and has developed his offensive game to the point he has become a force. If he chooses to play in the OHL, he will certainly have a bright future.

10. Michael D'Orazio, D

D'Orazio has exceptional feet and uses that speed to get himself out of trouble in the defensive zone. He is the most skilled player in the draft at getting his shot through on the power play. Interestingly, he has an element of toughness that was somewhat stifled because of minor hockey rules, however this asset will be a positive factor in the OHL. The only concerns we have are some of his defensive decisions, and poor choices in pinching. We are confident these issues will be addressed and solved with coaching at the next level.

The same was not said about Eric he was always a dominant player for the Thunder Bay 84's. Jordan and Marc were no sloutches themselves in AAA

Jared's skating technique is the most impressive of all the kids and thats why he's in the top 10
Once he gets more power in his stride he'll blow past all else easily
Heard Del Zotto is going #1 and its a done deal
