Major Junior A Draft Picks - pay to play

Do Major Jr. A teams pay for there draft picks to play on Junior B teams?

I am sure it has happenned and could happen. Nothing would surprise me anymore, but if a team were ever found out it would look pretty bad that they drafted a kid and then had to shell out some mazoola to get him on a tier II team. Most tier II teams are easily convinced by OHL temas to take on their players through past relationships, etc. Some players however, do develop better in Midget.

I doubt that the OHL is footing the bill for someone to play on Bramalea if that is what you are wondering. It is probably the dad paying the bill and then saying it is the OHL team to save face. If the kid has to have a spot paid for him, he probably does not belong there anyway, will have trouble getting ice, and it will hinder his development. I doubt an OHL team would do that.

I agree, it would a benefit to the Junior "B" team to have a player that could play Major Junior "A" the following year if not at some point during that same year. They get a good player to help win games and put people in the stands.
