were are these ratings coming from? someone who has no time on his hands and problay plays for a team that is rated in the top two teams! Anyways these ratings are brutal if anybody had any sense in hockey left they would have put their thinking caps and thought this one out long and hard before displaying any predictions. But I will give you some credit, Burlington, Guelph, and Oakville will be there, as far as the GTHL teams go,will i think speed for speed and skill for skill the GTHL teams can't compare to the TALENT in the OMHA will giving that most of the kids that are playing on these GTHL teams most of the kids are imports anyways so were does the TALENT come from............ Good luck to all teams this year and make the best team come foward..........

December 4th Rankings

December 4 2006, 4:54 PM

Once again it appears that the people from Vaughan were overzealous in their preseason predictions. There is much more parity this year both within and between leagues. My top ten for the moment;

1. Sault Ste. Marie
2. Mississauga Ice Dogs
3. Sudbury
4. Toronto Jr. Canadiens
5. Burlington
6. Waterloo
7. Markham Waxers
8. London
9. Ajax Pickering
10.Markham Majors

Honourable mentions; Oakville, Toronto Red Wings, Valley East, Thunder Bay,
Richmond Hill

Re: December 4th Rankings

December 7 2006, 7:05 PM

Very difficult at this point to rank teams from different leagues. The Wexford xmas tournament will help because there are 8 GTHL teams competing along with the Waxers, Richmond Hill and AP. I have a hard time believing London or any other Alliance teams belong in the top ten based on what I saw at the London tournament. Sure they have good records - but against very weak competition. I know this will generate a lot of anti- Toronto sentiment - but realistically GTHL teams could very easily take at least 6 of the top 10 spots at this point.

No alliance teams.. well if you want to say weak competition sure go ahead however London lost to the waxers in overtime in the last tournament. They also have won 2 tournaments other than that one. Yes the alliance is fairly weak however judging by a tournament in london. London was the best team in there own tournament by the way losing to markum in the finals because of a poor start. There are 4 good teams in the alliance and I think you will learn that. As far as the others like Waterloo, they also lost to the waxers by 1 goal in a game that could have gone ethier way. They also have dominated teams that are 500 in other leagues. Both those teams defeantly deserve to be there they have both proven to be true contenders.

i think after the gold puck waterloo showed who they are same with windsor maybe the alliance isn't so bad after all both teams played exceptional hockey this weekend. Windsor going 4-0 and beating the soo. Then losing to waterloo in the semis. Waterloo then lost to the soo in the finals in one of the best minor hockey games I have seen in a long time. Congrats to Soo Sault Marie on the tournament they are an excellent team with alot of skill.

1 Soo

OK ... based on the Gold Puck, etc
A biased opinion would say the Kings have to be in there. They beat Sudbury and Burlington in Big Nickel, and beat Valley East in Gold Puck, and tied Waterloo (and went undefeated but did not advance in Gold Puck); so ...

1 Soo
2 Waxers
3 IceDogs
4 Ajax
5 Jr Canadiens
6 Waterloo
8 London
8 Vaughan Kings
9 Burlington
10 Sudbury

hide the bullets man!

December 10 2006, 11:58 PM

holy smokes bud, stay away from the bottle and the deep despair for awhile.
did ya not read the odds on a kid playing pro hockey back when your precious star was 5 years old?
it's about good hockey, commeraderie, keeping active and fit ... and out of trouble; that way they won't end up angry and lost ... like you.
take a deep breath, go read a good book, relax.

it is a custom, an excitement in a kids life, friends, committment , getting a parent up at 6am, first skate, sleepovers, pizza, mouthguard clinics, visiting hotels in the Big Nickel, team meetings, making buddies for life, learning and improving hockey skills, family support, disappointments just like the dad who said NO DRAFT""""" I quess he missed out on all the special moments with his kid; who is probably at the plaza .

Just another victim sold on the dream of his kid playing in the NHL.

^^^^ I agree with Teams on that list but maybe not the order on some. Oakville has to play better teams to prove number one and that goes for others too. NO doubt Burlington, Ice Dogs and Oakville got talent but they need to all play eachother. To early in season to tell anyways?

Re: Untitled

December 14 2006, 4:46 PM

this may seem like a shocking list to people so here is my explaination for this list

1. Soo Sault Marie- lost to windsor in gold puck did still go on to win the championship a win is a win so they have to stay in the top spot

2. Markum Waxers- After watching this club they are one of the best teams in the province well coached and can win

3. Waterloo Wolves- Proved they belong after making to the finals in their tournament. May slip down but right now this is where they belong after outplaying the soo in the finals but falling short in shootout

4. Missasagua IceDogs- Very good team in a fairly good league hense the record potientally could move up but haven't proven a whole lot yet

5. Burlington Eagles- Good defence and good goaltending is the key to this team one of the lowest GA's in the province could move down though they haven't proven themselves too much yet

6. Oakville Rangers- Fairly fast and a solid team but again not much has been proven yet.

7. Kingston Preditors- Haven't seen this team but have seen there competition and they defanitaly deserve to be there

8. Gloucester Rangers- Fast team good goaltending is key for this team to win. Played great against the soo and came close to knocking them out of the tournament

9. Junior Canadiens- Very good club and still have to prove how good they really are. Weak start but I believe they have a full roster now and are taking over the GTHL team to keep an eye on in tournamnets to prove themselves

10. Ajax Raiders- Decent team rely on there best players not as balanced as some of the other teams. Weak goaltending didn't advance last weekend

Honoroable Mention

London Junior Knights, Toronto Red Wings, Windsor Spitfires,Vaughn Kings

The last list doesn't make much sense to me. For example,at the Big Nickel in Sudbury, Gloucester went 0-4-0 losing 3-1 to Markham Waxers, 5-0 to the Jr. Canadiens and 5-3 to Valley East. How do they get so high on the list?

Take Gloucester off, add Vaughan Kings who went to Big Nickel semi's, went undefeated in Gold Puck, tied Waterloo and have beaten Burlington, Sudbury Wolves;
Move Ice Dogs higher; and consideration should be given to having Richmond Hill on list as well, with honourable mention to Mkm Majors & Red Wings
