All Star game - parent coaches still have an influence at this level. So this is just a coaches choice game with a several good playewrs mixed in. I guess that parent coaches will always affect minor hockey


Midget hockey - The good teams are good because of good coaching and talent. Again parents have ruined teams and have sent kids away from Midget hockey Teams like Waterloo deserve credit for their programs. No imports and a quality coaching staff and program are giving them excellent results. They too are not free from influence. The president' s kid made the team to keep him onboard for the Telus Cup. So even those excellent programs cannot get away from politics and parents taking positions to benefit their kids.

Remember only one more year then the life path choices narrow.

You are absolutely right..It really is something to behold.Do these coaches and presidents and managers ect. ect. really believe that they are doing their kids a service.The result is that at the midget level the young men on those teams all know who the good players are and the bad. The coaches kid takes heat because the old man is such an idiot and so blind to his kids real ability. Guelph is a good example. The coaches kid has no business on an allstar team.Likely the weakest on the team if not the league.Is it the kids fault?? The old man is oblivious. So what happens is the rest of the players alienate the kid even more than he already was as the coaches kid, the team moral takes a direct hit because of the coach, and any credibility the coach had in the stands just went out the window. It really is too bad that the allstar format is not one that the players are chosen by an outside agency.But then again the coaches of kids would write a check or throw a party and those people would then choose his kid. When will minor hockey across the board realize that a coach of a kid leads to kaos. Dads that coach wake up, your kid is not very good and unless you can hold his hand when he is a man with kids of his own, the real world will shake him awake and tell him point blank " you stink".

Jooris is a solid coach. I do not know his kid. The above poster is correct and very well said. What is the situation in Guelph all about?

Perhaps we should only give coaches the ability to vote for players from other teams and axclude them from selecting players from their own roster.

I agree, we need some sorte of policy in place here. Until there is the coaches have all the say and the players who should be going to these events get overlooked again and again due to parent coaches. Also it is very disheartening to the players on theser teams, they certaintly not blind to whats gong on.

of course were not blind to whats going on were on the bench we know the players and the coaches we know who deserves things and who doesnt and im sorry to say almost 100 percent of the time the reason for a parent coach is because their kid needs alittle help... so many kids me, friends, and kids from other teams get screwed over by this crap of parents doing everything for their kids

Like the GTHL they have a selection crew that picks the All Star teams. Why don't we have one hear......
