i think we can all agree with that statement. Southside proved last year that they are a legit team, the others i feel are over-rated, due highly in part to people like Mr Hooten who rank high school teams in his magazine based on how much money they donate him.

The 5A West has been the best conference since 1992 and nothing will change. Any team from the West with the exception of Van Buren would make the playoffs from any other conference.

Look back for the past 20 years, and see who has been in the 5A championship game the most....or even the final 4 teams for the past 20 years. It is a landslide for the 5A West.
Sorry gentlemen, but the style of football played in the NW part of the state is just at a different level than the rest of the state. It's a fact, and will remain a fact for a very long time, mainly due to the growth of NWA. But, please keep making these absurd post, because your jealousy really feeds our ego.

West does have SOME talent but the second i hear somebody say "the worst team in the west could win confrence in any other confrence" will be the second you get laughed off this board. The only thing holding Conway back is coaching. Smith is old and stuborn and refuses to do anything new. It's not hard to play a team that does the same stuff every year, but when it all comes down to raw talent, i'd say Conway is probably the most talented team in the state. 2 running backs who could go to basically any D-1 college they wanted 2 and a the most under rated QB in the state probably. Not to mention the greats on the defensive side w/ Irons, Moore, ect. Conway is the most talented school and most athletic in the state as far as i can tell..is there any sport that we don't challenge for a state title in EVERY year...not that i can think of..

I didn't say anything about individual talent in my previous post...did I? Nope. I will 100% agree with you in the fact that Conway has players who are much more talented and athletic than Springdale (my example for a 5A West team). Springdale has NEVER claimed to have more speed, strength, or size than any other team. However, there is a quality that you can't measure in the weight room or with a stopwatch. It's called hustle, toughness, and determination. That, my friend, when it is all said and done, is what wins football games.

When Springdale played Conway in our scrimmage their QB threw 3 passes. One was intercepted, one time he was nailed by a defensive linemen and the ball went straight in the air, and his last pass went for 12 yards or so? I guess he's pretty underrated?

Your obviously very intelligent yourself, nobody was takling about the mexican QB from Springdale, he was talking about Brandon Solberg from Conway. And by the way, it was a scrimmage, which meant it didnt count. Conway didnt even prepare for Springdale or Northside, they were focusing on a game that actually mattered, thus the final score of Conway v Cabot being 20-0 Cats.

I guess back to back conference championships and a playoff appereance every year to memory doesnt count, neither does being #1 in every poll for 7 consecutive weeks last year, get your head out of your ass man. Saw the ft. smith games, saw the hootens kickoff on tape..i wasn't very impressed..yeah west teams do have talent, but nothin took me outta my seat..yall are good, just b/c hooten's says that yall are good don't make you good, he's an idiot as far as i can tell and a waste of time to even listen to. all this 3A vs 5A is bs. don't claim to be good when ur beating up some poor 3A school. If that's the case we'll go play a 2A school and beat them 100-0 and say we're the best in the state

After only reading about 3 messages, I can tell this is Conway hatred for Hootens.
He finally ranked yuo guys towards the top last year, maybe even #1, and what did you guys do, you lost. That is why you never get get ranked high, or taken seriously.
As for the west being over-rated, why did they place 3 of the 4 teams in the semi finals last year? Bunch of cry babies.

Conway vs. Cabot..simple fact Conway was the better team, Conway has improved more than ppl give us credit for, I don't see us goin undefeated but i do see us winning confrence and maybe even a state championship, too early to judge. As far as our next match against R-vill..i don't think yall are horrible but you lost landon and that is a big blow to your team, might be a close game but conway has the advantage goin into it, not counting out R-ville at all, it's a game i'm really looking forward to. As far as springdale beating us..oh c'mon Greenbrier beat the #2 team in 4A, scrimmages don't mean anything..Everybody better be ready for the wampus cats, b/c we are ready to bring it.

it seems that most people can only look at THEIR team and predict that they are the state champs, get real, it take a lot more that ONE game to win a state championship, if Conway gets by Russellville that will be a step, BUT then at the end of the year they will have to beat at least 2 other WEST ball clubs and THAT WILL NOT Happen, GOOD LUCK.

Russellville appears to be the weakest its been in a while. They lost alot of offensive power with the exception of Stiger. However they should still pose a threat to the Wampus Cats this year because of their style of play, just not a big threat. Conway should prevail big in this one.

Cabot is the kind of team that wont stand a chance against Conway this year. As bad as I hate to admit it, Conway lacks depth on defense, especially coverage, teams like r-ville should be better games.

Cabot was obviously an unathletic team that made alot of mistakes. Conway will roll against the majority of the teams on their schedule with the exceptions being the more athletic teams such as Russellville and LR Central. Look for the Conway-Central game to determine the Conference Champion this year. The defense was shakey at times even though they shut out the panthers, the secondary is unexperienced with the exception of Irons, and seems to be the weakest area of this years team. But i still dont see anybody stopping Wardlow and Hillis on the same night, ever.

Wow, I know I said that I thought PA was a little over-rated and got a little too much hype, but I was wrong they are extremely over-rated. I watched their D1 players that are supposed to be sooo good, and I tell you I really wasn't impressed. I admit that Matt Stoltz is a pretty big guy, but he wasn't as good as he is hyped up to be, I don't recall seeing him make any big plays. And Stephen Green, besides making a few good tackles, didn't impress me. He didn't seem to be very fast or quick, not to be considered a D1 prospect anyway. And Adam Thrash, besides his height and build (giving him the LOOK of a Quarterback), he didn't do anything for me. Sure he seems to have a strong arm, but his accuracy and touch on the ball is not SEC material (especially on the longer passes). And some of his decisions were not very good. As far as the rest of the team, I don't know why they are supposed to be sooo good. I don't think they will be holding that #1 spot very long this year. At least Warren competed with them for almost 3 quarters, the fatigue issue was not a factor in this game because the Bulldogs dominated this game from the kickoff. 62-0, WOW!!! Even more shocking was the first half stats (I didn't catch the second half stats or the overall stats). PA ran 32 plays for a total of 36 yards, Man, that's like 1 yard per play, disgraceful. Thrash was 3-17, with like less than 30 yards and 2 or 3 INT's (?).
And as for Springdale, man they are better than I thought. I was very impressed. I haven't really seen much of the other 5A schools, but from what I saw yesterday, Springdale is going to be a tough one to beat this year, they will be playing for the championship again this December.

Ive been tellin all of u that PA is way over rated. Sure there good 3A players. WOW, 3A , oh my goodness. But against REAL talent, they are average if that. GOOD JOB SPRINGDALE, HOPE U WIN IT ALL!!! Perhaps its not so much that PA is over rated as it is Springdale is underrated,they are national rank.I did have Spingdale picked but heard people other than PA fans smack talking Springdale.Lets not forget there a couple of small schools a few years ago hold their own against 5A powers,like the Saints or Dollarway in the late 80's/early 90's.I am not taking up for PA,we all now about them,but some small schools with the right coach can be a pain in the #@$% to all football teams & its hard for large schools to take that sometimes.

Hey guys lets admit 7 turnovers is hard 2 overcome, ask that to conway fans when we beat them last year in the playoffs. We had the ball on the 3 yard line when we had a 10th grader at qb just to watch him pitch the ball over the halfbacks head on an option.We also fumbled the ball on the 15th when we were on our way to score. Robertson didnt play that meant wade moved 2 fullback from halfback. He is more of a outside threat than he is running up the middle. Take nothing away fom conway even though they scored on 3 big plays they did deserve to win. I guess we will have 2 get revenge once again when we meet each other in the playoffs.

Ok, I never write in here because like most Conway fans, I think football should be left on the playing field. But, I can't let this slide. I am a huge Wampus Cat fan but this guy is embarrassing. Yes, we played great, and yes we appear to be a good team. But..... we have only played one game, hardly enough to prove ourselves as a GREAT team. There are so many good teams in the 5A, and some do have to right to profess to be great, i.e. those coming off a state championship year. So, until we go undefeated and win state,would you mind to keep comments like those to yourself please. Show some respect for all the teams in Arkansas. There is some great football to be played here. Quit embarrassing us!

I'll admit, Bryant has a little better team than I thought they would. But I must say this, Warren beat themselves in that game. Maybe Bryant still would've won anyway, but the score should of been a lot closer than it was. From being right on the sideline running chains, I was very dissappointed in the performance in Warren last night. They started off the game pretty good, but it didn't last long. They started making some really bad mistakes and decisions. They started playing sloppy. I mean they were making errors of basic fundamentals. They were not keeping their hands on the ball (especially on the kickoffs), they were not running the right routes, and they weren't tackling, not to mention all the stupid penalties they were getting for themselves. And the most frustrating thing they were doing (especially in the 2nd half) was not playing at full speed. They stopped hustling, they were giving up on plays, the receivers wouldn't block, they developed a "no-care" attitude. I feel sorry for those boys for what their gonna be getting the next two weeks, because Bo Hembree wasn't happy with their sloppy playing, he is gonna be running their butts off, their gonna be so tired of working on tackling by the end of next week, but I bet they start wrapping people up and bringing them down when they MAKE a tackle from now on. And whoever this #24 safety is, he doesn't need to be on the field, because he wouldn't tackle and he wouldn't cover his man, his butt needs to be on the bench. Warren will be okay by the time the conference schedule comes around. Bryant did have a little trouble with warren when we were all on the same page and were actually PLAYING football. Another thing was the fact that Hembree was using a few different plays too much. Before long the other team is gonna figure out the play, especially if you run it back to back. But Warren will still be going to the state championship game in december.

Can somebody say 5A Central Confrence Champs Conway Wampus Cats? I smell a 3peat. Kane is right, we did look a little rusty on defense but with moore,jones,irons,ect. i don't think stepping up will be a problem. hillis and wardlow..who can stop them? conway can jam it up the middle or take it to the outside..man we're good, and to think, we might even pass the ball a little..3peat 3peat 3peat

conway20,cabot0,Hillis & Warlow could not be stop & conway can pass.If it were not raining it could have been ugly.Both teams fumble & slip.conway has a hugh def. line across,328,303,291 &216.Cabots bright spot was Brandon Wade,He ran hard with alot of hart,i was more impress with him than anyone on the feild tonight.The other game was FS Southside 23,EL DO 21,ELDO fumbled alot or may have won this one.

When will Panther fans unite and demand the resignations of Kerr and Jones? How low do things have to get? Check their records since coming to Benton. 3 coaching reason the Panthers lost to a small private school.
1. TIME MANAGEMENT. when you have the lead use all the play clock.
2. In the 4th quarter, Panthers have the lead, run the ball, handoff and run power plays, NO OPTION. Line up and play smash mouth football.
3. Play prevent defense like Shiloh did at the end of the game with DB 30 yards off the football.
Jones allowed over 30 points a game as defensive coodinator at Henderson, he has not changed that stat since becoming football coach at Benton.
