Hmm.. it could have been such an interesting topic about a rather important developement of the visual scene if JFelix's totally unrelated smart-ass comments hadn't hijacked it.. Oh well.

So, back on topic... As Kay mentioned already, the big difference between the ways visual bands are marketed in Europe and US is that while in the US they got them to play at anime cons, which is just totally wrong, in Europe the bands did/will play at small clubs that suit them hellova lot more.
The best example is the recent Blood gig in Paris. I don't like Blood's music and especially based on that hilariously pathetic Ohayocon video I was expecting a terrible concert... Still, for my biggest surprise it turned out to be a pretty good one, coz the small clubs' atmosphere and the enthusiastic audience made it work. So, even tho I still think their music is average at best I'm very happy that I went to see them, coz I ended up enjoying it a lot.

I mean... yeah, US got PLC now, but they are about the only vkei band that actually suits a con, however most of the bands will say no, coz they don't want to ridicule themself at front of a bunch of overweight anime cosplayers.
