Websites and statements aside, what makes an American (or, a non-Japanese band, or even a Japanese band a VK band and not a goth band or just a plain old rock band that sings in Japanese?
IMHO, playing rock music and singing in Japanese doesn't automatically make you a VK band. No one would ever accuse Aikawa Nanase, Hamasaki Ayumi, B'z, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, or Petty Booka of being VK, for example, but they're all rock in some way shape, or form.
This may be getting into old territory, but I am interested in the thought process here.
