Response to A reply to Klept [Lock if you want, just don't remove?]

my email isn't up there mostly because i don't want to get spammed. but i'll reply to this, if anything because you took the time to write such a lengthy reply.

first of all, you must think i'm pretty ignorant to think that i have never heard of artist like tom waits or the talking heads. i don't know all of the artists on that list, but the ones i do know, i'm not crazy about. some of them are ok. if they were playing near me, i probably wouldn't bother going. i do like some american music, like diamanda galás and robert randolph, but again, in general, the panorama is B-O-R-I-N-G!

second, it's impossible to know every single artist from every single country. so if people find a few artists that they like from here and there, they probably will be satisfied and that hinders them from looking for more artists. when i find out about new artists, these days, it's mostly by accident. as it happened with me and jrock, btw. there's also the practical side of this, not having money to buy music by way too many artists, i dunno about you, but i'm not a millionaire, so i usually end up buying cd's from artists that i already like.

i am ok with shallow entertainment, yes. i don't think everything, even art, is or should be taken seriously all the time. otherwise life isn't any fun. i have studied art history for over 6 years and while that doesn't make me an expert, i can spot the trend in art to drop the seriousness and become a more playful thing [like some pop art or calder, who was a genius and a big fav of mine; the same applies to music].

i know romero's work btw, some of it anyway, and he's good at what he does, but, as far as zombie movies go, i meant that, again, a little mindless fun is ok. think zombie lake, think ed wood, think "they live" -- which has a good message but is a corny movie. if you want to talk about artistic statements, let's discuss césar monteiro's "branca de neve"! it doesn't get any more artistic than that, but is it a good movie?

> What if it bothers me?

then please feel tortured in silence. think "lives of the saints". if there's a heaven, you'll be put at the gates.
