To those who share in the grace of Christ Jesus,
As you all have likely heard, this morning Virginia Tech faced the most tragic shooting in campus history around the world. With 32 people dead (not counting those in critical condition), some of you may have the unspoken questions that swirl around inside.
Why is this happening?
To what extent is God involved?
How shall I pray?
Is this God's punishment or just "one of those things" that happen in a fallen world?
How do I answer those who know me at work when they accuse my God of being careless?
For most of us, the likely thing we'll face this week are conversations at school, work, and at home with family members who attack "faith" because of circumstance. Blaming God or Blaming man. In either case, people look quickly for a venue to cast their frustration and heartache.
As most of you know, I have the utmost respect for Pastor Glen Caneel and some of the more recent challenges he has had to face with death in the past year. Between the death of Pastor Doug Dodd and one of the little girls from a family in our assembly, the subject of reactionary blame on God is one that he chose to address in a recent message.
With the impending reaction that you may feel or be forced to handle in upcoming conversations (friends who say, "How can a good God let this happen?"), I encourage you to hear out Pastor Glen's message listed below.
