Not everyone dislikes Bron and I do agree with your view of him being a victim to bad writing. I do not generally disapprove of the idea of Littlefoot's father being involved in LBT. However, they ought to have been much more careful about such a tremendous event. They didn't even come up with a plausible explanation for his absence, which is just one out of many things that remain unexplained (they were subject of discussion already, so I won't repeat it again).
Through the careless handling of the story Bron himself appeared worse a character than he may be actually. They could have done so much better. Still none of these might have beens makes me think higher of the way they really DID introduce him.
