Happy news for Christmas!

Hi!
Merry Christmas to all of you
I'm aware that for most of you christmas won't start before tomorrow while we impatient, greedy Germans celebrate on Christmas eve already
Still I find it appropriate to post a piece of information here which I have been permitted to pass on. Some of you know already, but for those of you who don't I hope these news will make your Christmas
When the news about the upcoming land before time series were released there
was major concern about the fact that most likely it was meant to replace
the direct to DvD/Video series.
It won't!
Aria's Mum told me that Aria has already been asked to perform in LBT 13.
As LBT 12 is not to be released before 2007, the same year in which the TV
series is going to start, LBT 13 is bound to be released after the series
started. The TV series does not mean the end to the land before time as we know it!
Don't send any questions about LBT 13 to Universal's yet. There won't be no responds anyway, but let's share the happiness about the fact that the land before time will go on.

I don't quite understand your pesimism prehistorian. Having LBT 13 is more than we had so far. There is nothing absolutely NOTHING indicating that it should be the end to the series. Remember what Charles Grosvenor said. Untill the Roman numerals become too unwieldy I'm quite content to keep making them.
I find the XIV no more unwieldy than the XIII. Let us not ask too early what will be after a happy event in the future when we just learned that there will be a happy event in the future. Don't ask for the third piece of the cake when you have just been given the second.
Let's rejoice that LBT 13 will come!

I think that Roman numeral XVIII (18) is probably the unwieldly number that they are talking about. Then again, LBT VIII (8) came out alright, and that's just one "I" less.

Already there are three forums available in the Land Before Time category (though I'm not sure what the point of the "I Hate Cera!" forum is) and if any registered fanfiction.net member wishes to start another one, he/she is free to do so. Even Malte (though something tells me he hasn't been to fanfiction.net in eons.) Perhaps he could start an "LBT fanfiction purists" forum.

I'm once again back. I always say I'm back and then dont come back for a few months. My head hurts a lot because I just had exams for school. I've missed a lot of new people coming. Hello everyone! Last time I was here it was June, 3. So who knows about LBT 12. Any idea when it's coming out? I'll try to be on more frequently from now on.

An element for a story

Hi Sam!
This sure is an element that could be included in a land before time story. However, there must be something more around it to make it a story. There have been huge meterior craters in LBT 3 and 10 already.
In one of my land before time stories I made up a place that most likely is a meteor crater, though the origin of the crater is of no real importance to the story:

"The valley looked just like Petrie’s mother had described it. It was not surrounded by mountains but resembled rather a giant hole or a meteoric crater in the surrounding plain that was only interrupted by some wavy hills. Only to the side where the sun would reach his highest stand during the day the crater bordered to high mountains whose steep, rugged tops and cliffs stood out gloomy and menacing against the horizon. The walls of the crater became steeper and steeper the closer they were to the crater’s brink, at which they were nearly perpendicular while they sloped easier and easier the closer you came to the ground of the crater. Altogether the crater’s walls were pretty high.
A meandering, river crossed the crater, flowing closely along one of its sides, and disappeared in a narrow canyon at the one end of the crater that bordered to the mountains. The crater was nearly as big as the whole Great Valley. Its ground was largely covered with dark leafless trees. But there were also a number of steep rocks and cliffs, some of which reached up nearly as high as the crater’s walls and didn’t really seem to fit into the crater. Everywhere there were smaller rocks and some long snowy spurs stretched from the rocky walls of the crater far into its interior. High banks of snow had piled up along the brinks of the valley where the snow had slid down from the steeper rocky walls into the deep until they came to rest at the point where the slopes were no longer steep enough to let the snow slide deeper."

You too are from Europe then? I saw a DvD of the original movie not too long ago in a shop over here (Germany), but there is always a good chance of not finding it. I suggest you to check out some of the European ebay pages, where the DvD is offered very frequently e.g:

www.ebay.de (Germany) There you would have to search for "In einem Land vor unserer Zeit" to get results about the land before time. The German DvD does include the English version of the movie as well.

Thanks for replying! Ive looked for R2 TLBF 1 on ebay.co.uk, but i still cant find it, i even emailed stevenspielbergfilms.com but they said they didnt no anything about R2 releases. I don't no why its not out on R2, its out on R1 as an anniversary edition which looks really cool. I'm really annoyed coz its a really popular film so i dont no why its not out on DVD. Ill have to keep looking though!

I admit I didn't find any region 2 dvds of the original movie on the British ebay page either (only region 1). I don't know if it is alright for you to buy a German version of the DvD which is Region 2 and includes the languages English, French, and Dutch. I don't know if the bonus materials are available in either language on that DvD. The nature of many fanfictions

I don't mean to offend anyone by posting the following message but I feel I cannot keep what I'm going to write to myself. Screaming (LBT 3) doesn't do for me.
The huge majority of land before time stories contains so many elements that are really not from the land before time. Elements such as:
The intestines of Cera's Dad scattered over the floor of the Great Valley, Littlefoot slaughtering a whole tribe of sharpteeth by stabbing them with a stalactite (reciting Anakin Skywalkers speech from Episode two afterwards), Aliens from outer space attacking and murdering about each and everyone, zombies attacking the Great Valley, humans all over the place, Littlefoot and the others brought into our time to fight Godzilla or to be involved in the attack on Pearl Harbor, cases of rape...

I mean come on! Not a single one of the elements mentioned above is a product of my fantasy. Every single one of them is part of either a land before time fanfiction or of messages in which people announce their writing of such stories. I know I have not the right to tell anyone what to write and what not to.
But still, even with the strongest attempts to see this from an objective point of view, I cannot believe what I see.
Folks, is this really the land before time to you?
Is this what the land before time means to you?
Is this the gist of the land before time?

I doubt anyone can resonably argue the fact that I do have a good reason to feel frustrated and sad at reading such stuff.
Where have all the treestars gone?
Is there anyone out there who feels he or she is willing and able to write a land before time story that could easily be made into a movie without contradicting previous movies or violating the atmosphere created by these previous movies?
I want to emphasize again that I am fully aware it is not for me to tell people what to write, but I would be dishonest if I just smiled and nodded at all those stories. I am no good pretender. And I think if you are honest to yourselves you too will have to admit that fanfictions of the said content are no real land before time stories. But just something done to elements of the movies.

I wasn't talking about you only darth vader, though I used examples from your suggestions as well. I don't mean to forbid anyone to write anything (I don't have the competence to so, nor would it be right to do this even if I had). However, as there are almost no land before time fanfictions at all within the boundaries set by the movies, I mean to encourage others to give it a try writing a land before time story sticking to the land before time of the movies.
