That darn Ted Warren - he slipped a penny stock in his book - let's do a book burning - (see the chart for Parmelee Transportation Co. "PTE")- chart in on page 32 in the 1966 and 1993 edition - [I don't have any of my 1998 edition books - they are all loaned out - but I'm sure the page number will be different - because parts of the book have been chopped out!

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll look it up in my copy that's on order.

As a general rule of thumb, Chuck, wouldn't it be wise for, say, a novice TW trader, to stay away from stock that's threatening to fall under a dollar just due to the incipient danger of delisting?

if anyone wants to see it. It only dipped below $1.25 for about a year in 1941 and 1942, considering what was going on then I am not surprised....

The chart otherwise ranges a high of $22.50 and the next accum base at around $8.00 from 1948 to 1952.

Thanks for the reference... obviously an anomaly.

So the idea that TW referred to stocks under a dollar is very questionable, then. Thanks.

The general idea in TW is to avoid stocks that are in the penny stock range after all. I'll put my matches away. Thanks Dot!

Definition of penny stocks ?

My ex-broker defined a "penny stock" as any stock under $4.00 that was not being "followed" by any of the major brokerage houses. I own 30 different TW stocks and almost all of them would have fallen under my ex-brokers definition of a penny stock when I bought them. This is my two-cents worth (sorry, I couldn't resist) on the subject.

I like the "EX Broker" line...nice touch. Anyway, my brokers is $5.00 and under only because they can call any margin at that mark or lower.

I've been burned once, investing in a Nasdaq stock that was delisted (which I really don't understand because Nasdaq is OTC anyway), under $5.00. Don't mind the education from it though. By the way it was an Investalator pick...

Everything is cyclical....

Hi Chuck. What do you think of Dot's TW analysis of penny stocks.

You need to answer her response, if we're going to finish this thread, right?

I almost had my matches ready, you understand.
Thanks.

I guess Chuck isn't answering. He didn't leave an email address. I guess Dot's point blew him out of here.

For every softy, there's probably another hardcore TW fan using the search engines about to find this forum. Good work, Dot.

...and some people believe that they can fly - that's why they have bars on the windows of the Washington monument.

I personally trade penny stocks exclusively - you can do what ever you want!
