      Yes, it was meant to be a spoof of the Burl Ives character from the Rudolph Christmas special, but his likeness was made in that of Leon Redbone, who voiced the snowman and whose song plays later in the movie. The snowman's name is also Leon.

      The narwhal and the arctic puffin and friends were also spoofs of the Rudolph animated feature.
