this atv's 1980's drama series is already released on vcds boxsets in dual audio langauges for purchase if anyone is interested.

starring michelle yim (mai, suet) & leading actor "wong,yuen-sun" (the same actor as in TVB's 1970's "the Twins" who have played the mischievious younger twin brother raised by the so-called 'evil ones'. He's twin older brother in tvb's 1970's "the Twins" was played by actor "Sek, Sau".

I think michelle & actor wong, yuen sun makes a cute on-screen couple in this series.

I am disappointed that it have a sad ending, the leading actor died before michelle's character get married with him.

I think the leading character should have propose to michelle's storyline character.
I dislike the fact that in the storyline hea was already a married man from a arranged marriage by his parents.

Did anyone watch this?
I heard it received good ratings during its initial original broadcast back in the early 1980's.

I wished michelle & wong, yuen sun did more atv drama series together as the leading couple back in the 1980's. So far I only know that they have done 3 series together but I only get a chance to watch 2 of them.

Did anyone watch the sequel under the different title under the name of the son of the legendary fighter (fok yuen gup)? The neglish title is called 'the legend continues', I watch some of it and was so disappointing, so boring with the storyline & casts that I stop watching it.

I wonder who is the leading male character's mother in the 'legend continues'??
Is it michelle's character or the married wife of fok yuen gup in the pre-sequel of 'the legendary fighter??

as a serial it was a good one, i think; wong yuen san and leung siew lung were good and the plot was fine. but i didn't like that all the women were superfluous to the plot. she was pretty in it, that was all, it was a hua ping role, and she deserves much better? i mean, any actress would have been fine, they had no need to cast mi xue, who can do a great deal more than was asked of her here.

sorry. hua ping -- (flower) vase -- decorative, empty roles, where all the pretty actress has to do is stand there looking pretty, and not do much acting. i'm sure you've heard the term, just not in pinyin (romanised mandarin? i can't always spell cantonese, though i try) -- again, sorry!

after you explain it, I understand what you mean, its okay with me.
yes, I heard the term before with actresses who are view by others as good-looking but no acting skills.

i just bought this film in viet and watched it, and like u said above, she does nothing much but be there and look good. i was hoping for alot more.

but she did look good. and the film was too short, i expected it to be longer, and this was the one film that i expected her to have a tragic ending but she didn't. bummer!

actually this is the only series in which i get to see michelle in her 20s, so basically i simply just love the way she looks... soooooooo cute! but I must agree though, her role is a 'flower vase'! However, I love the pairing between her and the main actor, they look so cute together... lol the ending's a bit stupid though, in my opinion. -_-"

I wished there would be more screen time between michelle and the leading acto named "wong, yuen-sun".

their screen time together is too short.

Does anyone know of any old chinese tv series with them together besides this one and the twins?

I wished she is paired as a on-screen couple with actor "wong, yuen-sun" than with the old inappropriate actor named "Chu,kong" 3 times in police tv series & patrick tse yin in a gambling tv series.

they seem to be incompatible on-screen couple together.

they seem to be too old for her.

I remember there's another serial which she was paired with Wong Yuen Suen. It's Heroes from Zhu Jiang.

Absolutely agree to what you say. Chu Kong doesn't go well with Michelle but it can't be blamed since ATV can't find a suitable replacement especially that Damian is the most suitable on-screen co partner with Michelle.

Actually Michelle's role in the King of Gambler isn't what we know today. Initially, she was given the role of Cecilia Yip, and her co-partner is Damian (again!) while her current role actually belongs to Lisa Wong. Unfortunately, Lisa could not accept ATV's invitation of taking up the role due to her status in TVB. Out of no choice, ATV assigned that role to Michelle, while arranged Cecilia Yip to replace her initial role.

Why didn't Damian complain then? (just kidding, pl don't take it seriously)

Actually I like Michelle's role in the Kong of Gambler, which proves her acting skills. And it also proves that Michelle is Michelle and that she can also outstand in acting without a partner like Damian.

But one question, why didn't ATV use Cecilia Yip to take up the role originally assigned to Lisa?

Perhaps ATV think that Cecelia doesn't match Patrick Tse, and in terms of age and maturity, Michelle fits the role more than Cecelia. Ow.. What a miss of DM (Damian-Michelle) match again?!
